How To Design Your Blog & Create a Homepage

Dear Awesome Reader,

I regularly have questions about how I designed my blog and made the homepage and so I thought, why not write a post about it to explain step by step what to do!

Firstly, you’re going to need to create a page (as you normally would with any other page on your blog) and entitle it “Home”.

Now, you can insert whatever you like on your homepage, but what I would suggest is creating/finding images to use as buttons. When someone clicks on them, they will each be linked to a different part of your blog.

Once you have your images, insert them in your page and add each link to each of the pictures. The links could be to certain posts, pages, whatever you prefer.

After saving that, you’re going to need to make a new page called “Blog Posts”. You don’t have to write anything in it, but it is something you must do for this to work.

TIP: Make sure that the “Home” page and the “Blog Posts” page are inserted into your menus. (You will find the menus button on your main dashboard under “Themes”).

Next, click the customize button and click on the tab that says “static page”. Where it says “front page displays” you’re going to need to click on “a static page”.

Underneath front page, you’re going to need to change it to “Home” (which was the page you created prior to this).

Where it says posts page, you’re going to need to change that to your “Blog Posts” page that you made earlier.

Now save it! I hope this helped some of you who would like to create a homepage! If you do, comment below and I’ll be sure to check it out! You know, I think WordPress should be paying me for things like this…! Just kidding. 😉

I’m actually planning on redesigning my blog (again!) soon, so look out for that!
