I know what it’s like to get so frustrated because you really rEALLyyy want to do something creative but you just don’t know how. Been there, done that. It’s like a holiday’s approaching and you get all excited because now, you’re going to have plenty of time to let your imagination run wild and do whatever you like. And then it arrives. And
you don’t have a bloody clue what to do.
So, I’ve decided to write this hopefully helpful post on how to do the inspiration thing and creative stuff. 🙂 WHOOP!
(disclaimer: practically all of these photos aren’t mine but I’ve put them in as an extra source of inspo;))
This had to be first on the list because it is my GO TO when I’m lacking in ideas. I’m much more of a visual person so I love to look at all of the photography and whatnot. Most searches for me would include the word “aesthetic/aesthetics”. what can I say 🙂
How could I not include this app. Probably one of my fave things (@alildaydreamer plug, plug) and I suppose similar reasons as above. I think with this though, seeing your friends and idols putting things out there can help you to feel a bit more eager to do the same.
3. GOING OUTDOORS
Oh my god Caitlin you’re asking me to go outside and actually leave the internet for a short while what how dare you. I know, it’s going to be hard but worth it. 😉 Sometimes it’s just nice to give yourself some space, not necessarily to solely get ideas from the things you see.
4. HAVING A CHAT
I find that simply talking to people I don’t usually talk with, or haven’t spoken to in a while helps me to understand what I want to focus on. Not always, but it’s always a nice thing to do. 🙂
5. SOMETHING NEW
This could mean going and visiting a new place, or even just meeting someone new. Perhaps it means that you try a new food, take up abseiling instead of going to your usual yoga class or watch a completely different YouTube video genre than normal. Who knows, it may spark some interest.
6. VISIT AN OLD PLACE
By this, I don’t mean go to every castle or other historic building available to you (although if that’s your thing that go forth) I just mean re-visit somewhere you’ve been before; somewhere that you have fond memories of. And this, ties in with the next point…
7. REFLECT ON POSITIVE MEMORIES
No explanation need here. >.<
Listening to some good tunes is automatically going to put you in a better mood, therefore helping you chill out and let the ideas flow more easily.
Sometimes just carrying on with things you do often anyway helps to take the pressure off a bit. I LOVE taking photos and even if they all turn out crap it was fun to do and maybe gave me a least a teeny bit of inspiration. 😛
10. R E L A X
Just chill out and don’t try so hard. Getting frustrated and panicked is only going to make things harder so don’t worry and take it easy. 🙂
I hope this is a least a little, tiny bit encouraging.
