Last Saturday, on the 12th August, I attended my first ever festival! I can’t tell you how excited I was, honestly.
Although it wasn’t the type of music I’d listen to very often, I’m literally up for anything and live music (when performed well of course) is amazing in itself. I’ve tried many instruments myself and went as far as completing grade 5 in piano, so it always astounds me at how talented these musicians can be. Like, how do they not make any mistakes?!
Anyways, the two singers I loved the most were Jack Savoretti and Tom Odell: they were incredible. I just cannot put into words how good they both were. Tom especially at the end.
Despite the music though, it has to be said that the food service was terrible. There simply weren’t enough food stalls to accommodate everyone; my mum had to queue for 2 and a half hours for drinks! Hundreds of people left early because of it, considering you weren’t allowed to bring any food/drinks of your own. I would say also that they should have told people the schedule of the performers, because they made no effort to.
HOWEVER, there’s been a lot more negativity online about it than positivity and I feel as though the parts that weren’t up to scratch can easily be fixed and the music was amazing. As long as they are fixed, I would highly recommend anyone close by to go next year!
Right now for the best bit: PICTURES!! (you may have seen some already from my Instagram: @caitlin.traylor)
At the end of the day, to have a festival like this in Wales is really rare and so I do appreciate that I was able to attend. I hope they do improve because I would be so up for going again in years to come.
Let me know if you’ve been to any festivals this summer and if so, how did they go?
